Who and How Rhiannon Ford Divorce Consultancy Helps

I work with clients, both men and women, who find themselves in one of 3 situations; the early stages (pre or post separation); those already in the legal process and those whose divorce case have finished but need help and guidance.

1.  Early Stages

Perhaps you are thinking about separation or have recently separated and are not sure what the next steps should be. There may still be an element of uncertainty in your situation and you may be feeling emotionally overwhelmed.

At either stage, you may not be ready to see a solicitor or you may not even know if you want to separate. I can provide help by:

  • Listening to your story to provide emotional support for your circumstances

I provide a safe, non-judgmental and confidential environment for you to talk openly about your situation.

  • Answering burning questions you have about your situation

Family breakdown is an extremely emotional time and you are facing life changing decisions. You will have questions racing around in your mind that you need answers to but perhaps do not know who to ask.

  • Providing information about your options

This helps clarify things for you, to help with important decision making. I can talk you through various scenarios, but be assured that the decisions are always yours to make. For some, just talking through their options highlights that reconciliation is the way forward.

2.   In The Legal Process

The legal process can be very intimidating and confusing.  When you feel stressed it is difficult to feel confident about making big decisions and to provide your solicitor with clear instructions. I take the mystery out of the law by:

  • Helping you complete legal forms

These can appear confusing and complicated and I provide hands on help with filling them in and understanding the legal information.

  • Explaining legal jargon in plain English

This can reduce stress and uncertainty about the legal process. I can help clarify things for you, to help with important decision making.

  • Suggesting ways to cope with the legal process

I have valuable insight into the legal process and a thorough understanding of what is involved.

  • Providing tips for saving money on legal costs

I answer any burning questions you have about your situation, helping you save time and money with your solicitor. I am not however an alternative to the family law solicitor and do not provide legal advice.

  • Preparing you for meetings and attending court

I make the legal process more bearable by arming you with a clear explanation of what is going on and what you need to think about. When you leave our meetings, you will know what to expect, what is expected of you and will feel confidence about the way forward.

  • Accompanying you to court and meetings if requested

For many people going to court and meetings can be daunting. I can come with you to provide moral support and someone to talk things through with after the hearing. My knowledge and experience of the legal proceedings also means I can ensure you understand the outcome.

  • Helping you communicate effectively with your solicitor

It can be very difficult to think clearly and absorb all the information/questions the solicitor is asking you. I can support you in that. I can explain the solicitor’s letters to you and help you communicate clearly your instructions back to them.

3.   Post-divorce

It is not uncommon to feel a little lost when the legal case first finishes. You have been running on adrenalin through the legal process, having to deal with solicitors etc. Then the case finishes, the solicitor’s involvement ends and you are left on your own to rebuild your life.  It is only now you have the opportunity to grieve the end of your relationship and come to terms with the changes in your life.  Only then, can you start planning for your future.  I can help by:

  • Providing practical help regarding the financial order

The solicitor’s involvement will soon be coming to an end and it will be up to you to finalise matters regarding the financial settlement. I can help you to action the various parts of the financial order- e.g. closing bank accounts, etc.

  • Ongoing Support

Whilst the solicitor’s role has come to an end, I will continue to support you through this life transition to help you to feel empowered to take control over your life. Your time and energies are no longer consumed by thinking about the divorce. You are now free to take back the control over your own life and make your own decisions about your future.

  • Coaching to help you plan for a happy future

Our coaching sessions will help you start to think about what you want and how you are going to achieve it. We’ll be working on looking to your future and not letting the past hold you back.
