I have exciting news!!!
I’m absolutely delighted to announce that last night I was awarded GOLD in the Use of Social Media in Business category at the Surrey Digital Awards 2018. I’m feeling quite overwhelmed (and probably a little worse for wear after a late night of celebrating) and I don’t think it’s quite sunk in yet. Reaching the final was great but to then not just win but to win gold in my category is such an amazing feeling.
I took a big gamble in giving up my career as a solicitor to start a brand-new business from scratch all by myself. I had never run a business before and had had no aspirations to be an entrepreneur. But here I am 8yrs on running a successful divorce consultancy business which I love. It doesn’t feel like a job – it’s my vocation. When I first launched the business, there was no one else doing anything Iike I was. Whilst I didn’t have much competition it was challenging to think of effective ways of getting the message out about my services. People just didn’t know it existed.
I have worked hard to find a suitable way to promote my business. Divorce is a sensitive subject and I take a lot of time and care over how I market my services. Social media has been a great tool for me to not only reach potential clients but to get word out there that my unique service exists. I have taken time to really understand my client and to find the right tone and approach for promoting my services to those who could benefit. I get great satisfaction from making a positive difference to people who are going through a difficult time in their life.
Rhiannon Ford Divorce Consultancy will be 8 years old this year. What better way to celebrate than with this exciting award to recognise how far the business has come.
A big thank you to all my friends, family and colleagues for your ongoing support and encouragement with my business. A personal thank you needs to go out to some particularly special people; my gorgeous Mum who was the inspiration for my business; I saw what additional support she needed during her divorce which just wasn’t available in the marketplace at that time so I decided to do something about it and started planning the creation of a new business which is now my divorce consultancy service. My friend and colleague Jo McGowan, for all your help and support with my social media campaign. You have always been so generous with your time and expertise and I have learnt so much from you. My previous client and now close friend Alyson Reay, for giving me such wonderful feedback about my services and being so amazing at promoting it to others. And of course, Nerys Donaldson my best friend and invaluable colleague, for your incredible support both personally and professionally which makes such a positive difference to me.
Right, best get back to work then.
