Witness Preparation Training

Support for court appearances

When a family law case comes to court, it is a stressful time for all involved. Solicitors have put hours of work into written statements that make a clear case for their clients. Yet the success of the case is highly influenced by the personal appearance and oral evidence of the clients involved.

So it is essential that your client is prepared for their court appearance – something they have to do at a time when they are likely to be exhausted, stressed and anxious. That anxiety can transfer itself to the appearance itself, often with difficult consequences.

I can work with your clients to give them the confidence they need to make a good court appearance. With a background in family law practice, including court proceedings, I understand the process and the importance of the outcome. This preparation puts clients in the best place, giving them confidence and a positive outlook.

“My team said I did well, l and I kept calm and got across my points across. Thanks again for all your help. ”

How My Witness Preparation Training Can Help Your Client

I provide specialist support and guidance for clients giving oral evidence during their legal cases. This is called Witness Preparation Training. This is how it works:

  • I take a friendly and relaxed approach to working with them. It’s not formal training – it’s more like a focused conversation that helps them prepare for their hearing.
  • I’ll take them through exactly what happens on the day, so they know what to expect.
  • I will explain the process – how they will be asked to give their evidence, and who will ask them questions and when.
  • I’ll give them tools to help them manage their nerves and emotions so they can give the best account of themselves.
  • I will prepare them how to manage difficult questions they may get asked, so that they can give clear and concise answers.
  • Some people give evidence over a video link rather than in person. If this applies, we’ll go through some tips on how to make sure their evidence still makes a positive impact.

The difference it will make for your client.

People who have worked with me on their witness preparation have said that it makes a huge difference to how they feel about their court appearance.

Your client will:

  • Know what to expect.
  • Have the tools to stay calm and clear.
  • Know how to answer difficult questions.
  • Have had the chance to practice how to answer questions concisely.
  • Be in the best position to deliver a clear, focused message that gives the judge or arbitrator all the information they need.

“I was very proud of how I gave my evidence. Both my solicitor and barrister were really complimentary – the barrister even said it was one of the best pieces of oral evidence she’d seen given in her 30 years! I was able to be calm in the lead up and feel I remained calm and clear throughout. The barrister on the other side was getting noticeably agitated as it clearly wasn’t going how she’d hoped.

Thank you so much for all your help along the way, our sessions were absolutely instrumental in me being able to deliver side of the story in the way I needed to. If I know anyone else who might need your help, I’ll certainly make sure they speak to you!”

“I found the meeting with Rhiannon extremely helpful. It really helped to get an idea of the court layout and how the final hearing would run. The work I did with Rhiannon focused my mind on what I wanted and also how to keep calm and answer the question. It seems simple but actually it is easy to forget when someone is trying to rile you. I definitely found the work with Rhiannon worthwhile, and I would recommend it to anyone in a similar position to me.”
