The benefits of divorce consultants and coaches to the family law solicitor.

Working with a divorce consultant or divorce coach, can benefit not only the client getting divorced, but their solicitor too.

As a divorce consultant and coach, I provide emotional support and practical help to people going through divorce and separation. But with my background as a family law solicitor, I also very much understand what the solicitor needs from the client in order to run the client’s case efficiently.

My work complements the service provided by the solicitor and we can work together to provide the best service possible for the client.

1. Emotional Support for Clients

Divorce is one of the most stressful life events a person can experience, often accompanied by a range of intense emotions such as anger, sadness, and fear.

The benefits of emotional support for your client are:

  • Heightened emotional stress from the breakdown of their marriage interferes with a client’s ability to provide clear and rational instructions to their solicitor.
  • As a family law solicitor, you are well-versed in the legal aspects of divorce, but you may not have the time or expertise to address your clients’ emotional needs. It is also not always appropriate for you to take responsibility for providing emotional support to your clients.
  • By offering a compassionate ear and practical coping strategies, I can help your clients navigate the emotional rollercoaster of divorce, allowing you as the family law solicitor to focus on the legal aspects of the case.
  • Working with me results in a calmer, more confident client, who is better able to provide you with clear instructions for their case.

 2. Effective Communication and Cooperation

One of the biggest challenges in divorce proceedings is communication between the parties involved. High levels of conflict and animosity can hinder productive dialogue and prolong the divorce process, leading to increased stress and expense for everyone involved.

I am skilled in effective communication techniques. This means I can help your clients:

  • articulate their needs and concerns in a constructive manner,
  • facilitate more effective communication between the parties.
  • expedite the resolution of disputes and help minimise the need for costly court battles
  • provide clear and concise instructions to you as the solicitor
  • prepare for providing their oral evidence at a fact finding or final hearing

This all helps the solicitor save time, enabling you to focus on the legal case.

3. Streamlining the process

In my role as a divorce consultant, I can help streamline the divorce process by assisting your clients with tasks such as:

  • gathering financial documentation
  • completing the client’s draft Form E and Income Needs Schedule
  • organising paperwork
  • coordinating with other professionals involved in the case, such as mediators or child psychologists
  • preparing mentally, emotionally and practically for important meetings and/or court attendance.

Alleviating some of the administrative burdens, allows you as the family law solicitor to focus your time and energy on the legal issues at hand.

4. Supporting Co-Parenting and Child Focused Decisions

For divorcing couples with children, the well-being of the children is paramount. Co-parenting arrangements, and parenting plans can be emotionally charged issues that require careful navigation.

Divorce consultants and coaches can support their parent clients through the challenges of co-parenting. They can help them:

  • develop effective communication strategies,
  • manage conflicts, and
  • prioritise the best interests of their children.

By working collaboratively with divorce consultants and coaches, you can ensure your clients receive the guidance and support they need to create a positive co-parenting environment for their children.

Conclusion

In the demanding and emotionally charged field of family law, divorce consultants and coaches play a vital role in supporting both clients and family law solicitors alike.

By offering emotional support, facilitating communication, streamlining the divorce process, and promoting the well-being of children, divorce coaches enhance the effectiveness of family law practice in England and Wales.

Through collaboration and teamwork, family law solicitors and divorce consultants and coaches can work together to achieve positive outcomes for their clients, helping them navigate the challenges of divorce with greater resilience and confidence.
