Acknowledge the challenges you have faced

By Rhiannon Ford

It is important to acknowledge the challenges you have faced and most importantly to recognise how you have overcome them.

We all go through challenging times in our lives and our individual challenges will vary.

Challenging times can pull us in different directions, often with us just having to keep going, on autopilot, running on adrenaline.

It is only afterwards when things are becoming a little easier and calmer, that they have each realised what a tough time it’s been.

What to do.

Reflect.

Take some quiet time to think back on everything you’ve gone through. Do this when you’re feeling calm.

Recognise everything you have faced.

Perhaps make a list or draw a diagram. Acknowledge – how you’ve overcome those challenges and got to the other side. Recognise your achievements.

Process.

Give yourself time and space to think about how you feel about everything.

Accept you have been through a difficult time.

It was tough. But you made it through. Be proud of yourself.

Be kind to yourself.

You will need time and space to do all of this. Take it step by step. Everyone is different and deals with things differently. Be true to yourself.
