Firstly, this post is not about me encouraging people to get divorced. It is for those who find themselves in the unfortunate situation of getting divorced, whether it was their decision or that of their spouse.
Many of my clients worry about their post divorce life, when they first start the divorce process. What will my life look like? Where will I live? Will I have enough money? There are lots of uncertainties for them. I work through these with my clients and as time progresses, it is great to see them gain more confidence and clarity to plan a happy post-divorce life for themselves.
If you’re going through divorce and struggling thinking about the future at the moment, here are 8 quick positives to focus on for your post-divorce life:
- Less arguments more calm
- Independence to make your own decisions
- Space to focus on yourself
- Chance to find love again
- The chance to be a happier parent for your kids
- Your own home – your personal space
- Financial freedom with control over your money and assets
- Time to spend time with and to reconnect with friends
There is life after divorce and it can be a happy one. Focus on the positives.
