Reasons why you might be procrastinating.
One of my clients has told me she is really frustrated with herself.
She knows what she “should” be doing and what she “wants” to do but for some reason, she’s just not doing it.
She recognised that she needs to get out of her own way and stop self-sabotaging. But she’s stuck.
We discussed why she thought she might be stuck. She was anxious. Anxiety and fear can play a major part in us procrastinating.
It can cause us to avoid doing what would actually help us move forward.
Here are 8 reasons why anxiety might be causing you to procrastinate:
➡️ Overwhelm- too many decisions to make or actions to do.
➡️ Uncertainty – anxiety about an unknown outcome.
➡️ Over-thinking – trying too hard to make the “right” decision.
➡️ Over-complicating – making the task/decision more difficult than it is.
➡️ Biting off more than you can chew – taking on too much.
➡️ All or nothing thinking – I must do all of the tasks or nothing at all.
➡️ Worrying about a negative outcome- expecting the worst.
➡️ Difficulties with knowing how to plan to achieve the task- not knowing the steps to take.
Can you relate to any of these? If so, please don’t struggle alone. I can help. Get in touch and we can work through it together.
I recommend buying a divorce journal to record your thoughts and feelings. You can buy one here – divorce journals.
